About Electric December 2009

Welcome to the latest Electric December, Watershed’s original end of year online showcase of creative talent. Electric December 09 has been coordinated by an international team of young people from Europe, including Bristolians involved in eShed (a Watershed project for 14-21 year olds who love film).

As part of the “Young Voices Across Europe” project, eShedders from Bristol received funding from the European Commission to team team up with young Lithuanians from Vilnius to shape up Electric December 09. Read their Electric December diary for an insight into the work that's gone into planning and curating this year's calendar.

With over 80 entries from 10 countries, the steering group had a tough job selecting the 24 mini masterpieces you can see on this site. It’s an inspired, diverse selection of short films by young people from all over Europe – animations, documentaries, live action – they’re all featured, and they’re available for you to unwrap throughout December!

Established in 1999, Electric December sought to facilitate partnerships between local community and education groups in Bristol and professional media companies to produce new pieces of creative work for the web. You can see the past ten years of Electric December offerings in the archive section of this site.

Electric December 09 is a Watershed project led by eShed taking place as part of the 2009 European Year of Creativity and Innovation. It is an outcome of the “Young Voices Across Europe” project which is funded with support from the European Commission through the Youth in Action programme.
