BUFF - March 10-14 ‘09

BUFF - The International Children and Young People’s Film Festival in Malmö, was founded in 1984 and is a non-profit organization. The aim was, and still is, to screen good films for children and young people as well as adults. A meeting place for people working with children, young people and film. BUFF strives to open the possibilities for more influences from Europe and the rest of the world by showing films that might never be screened otherwise. In the cinema we get to meet different cultures, hear foreign languages and tag along on endless adventures. BUFF considers children and young people to be the most exciting resource we´ve got, our future.

Since 1995, BUFF is an official Swedish film festival, an assignment given by the Swedish Film Institute. About 100 films are shown during the six days of the festival, with screenings both day and night. BUFF arranges seminars and discussions for teachers, film-makers and cultural workers aiming to inspire the children and youth film.

It’s time to submit your film to The International Children and Young People´s Film Festival in Malmö 2009. The festival will take place March 10-14 2009, but you can already submit your film.

SCREEN 2008 (Photos by: Magnus Grubb)

The idea with SCREEN is to get young filmmakers the opportunity to meet professionals in meetings, seminars and workshops.

BUFF Filmfestival has many guests with long experience of filmmaking around the world; directors, producers, distributors and mentors. At SCREEN 2008 we had about 200 visitors, both young filmmakers and professionals. BUFF coproduced the event with local high schools that took part in planning, preparing and producing the event. BUFF also used other local networks to come up with the program. The workshops and seminars were produced together with local filmmakers and production companies.
